Hello folks,
Today I have a small side project to announce (as I don't think I have yet) that people may find useful. I call it the One File Dashboard. The idea is to create a reference guide for processing checkin and a simple basis for building custom "dashboards" for your networks. Theoretically you can use this as your dashboard -- it writes status updates to a plain text file that can be processed with a cron job -- but its main purpose is to educate.
You can download the One File Dashboard here:

Mike B-B and I will work to keep this document updated, but most importantly, I would value the contributions of users like yourselves. In particular, this file should be well documented: notice there are several response variables with "???" next to them, meaning I'm not sure what they do.
This is where your help is most necessary. If you see any configuration settings in ROBIN that are missing here, or can provide a simple explanation for a configuration setting, please send me updates to the reference file. You may host this file elsewhere, but please maintain a conspicuous link back to this file so others may always access the most recent version.

Is the "one file dashboard" a reply that the dashboard server sends to the node?
I noticed that it really resemble the file /etc/update/received.clean which
appears during the process of "update", I wonder whether we can store that
file in the node so that the node can update from itself. In fact, for the
moment I just want to build a local network and do some test off line. I tried
to disable the connect to dashboard server by modify the command update,
but it turned out that I can see the ssid while can not connect to it, seems
there is no dhcp server on the node. Would the node run dhcp server only
when it had been fully configured? If so, how can I change the process so
that I can connect to the node first and then configure it manually?
Can anybody help me figure it out?
Thanks very much. |
