you have entered a wrong URL for "custom.sh SERVER", do not add "http://" in the string and "olsrd.conf.robin".

The correct URL is:
svn2.hosted-projects.com/ansanto/robin-mesh/custom_scripts/100/

I can say that this did fix some of the issues I was having with speed. I have only been running this for about a week but I have noticed some major improvements on my network!

Antonio, need anything else tested out? I am loving this stuff!

I'm pretty sure that patch was in 2671 already and he said everything works fine with 2671, but anything is possible as a change in the past with Coova was causing big issue's, to the point it wouldn't even work. The one thing I'm curious about, and maybe it was said earlier, is what dash is being used for people that have problems? Are you guys using your own form of a dash? Maybe this patch, combined with using your own dash is sending something the node doens't like. The same exact thing used to happen with the MeshConnect dash where every 5 minutes a restart of Coova would occur and would break the connection. Just sounds like this is happening all over again.

I had someone email me saying they lose internet connectivity after about 15 minutes of use or so, while connectivity to the unit is fine. I thought maybe it was something they were doing wrong. Coova is also being used here, so maybe something really is up. Either very few people are actually using the new builds to report this happening, or it really is just an isolated user setup error.

Get the Portal Failure message and gateway/node reboot on the wifirush portal with 2671 but SSID2 is fully functional and can ssh into the nodes without issue.

Moved back to open-mesh/coovaOM/wifigator and the issue goes away.

any thoughts

This is on EOC-2610's/1650's

sedatkaan, it's understood that are you using wifi-cpa captive portal, are you using wifi-cpa enterprise dashboard or open-mesh?

We are seeing this on some devices running >/= 2671 (Engenius 2610 but not on 1650) while on wifi-cpa dashboard (based on orangemesh with lite integration).

I can confirm that heartbeat still gets lost and portal error causing reboot even without using the wifirush dashboard but using open-mesh.

Hey, phred.

I'm quite certain we aren't in range of each other: I've seen no unfamiliar MACs in /proc/net/madwifi/ath0/associated_sta.

The network names are 'waves' (semi-stable) and 'waves2' (testing).

Not really sure what's going on. I helped test two forum users network running my equipment local at the house. I didn't see any issue's, was connected to one node for over 40 mins with no disconnect. I'm using an OM1P, but other then that my nodes were fully setup on someone else's dash and had no problem. I have ADSL and a netgear modem/router as the feed point.

Reflashed two radios 2610 & 1650.
Created new open-mesh network.
moved them to CPA with Open-Mesh dashboard
Heartbeats.. but still Reboots

cannot connect to internet.

move back to open-mesh, connectivity is fine... I've let them up on RUSH for now

// CORRECTION
It took about 10 minutes for my connectivity to happen, seems to be working now.. we'll see how it goes setup like this

it's not clear. What you mean with "back to open-mesh"? it seemed to me that you alreadywas on open-mesh:

Setup on openmesh..
Reset to WifiRush and use CPA Dashboard.. continuous rebooting of nodes.
moved dashboard back to openmesh but keep WPA server, units still rebooting/disconnects

Maybe something with the 2610/1650? I had nodes setup using the OM dash and another users captive portal setup and had no problems with a OM1P.

We have 100s of OM1p running fine and E1650s working well also. I'll try to dump logs on an effected E2610 later on.

Did it turn out to be only certain forms of hardware? I could not replicate any error last night with the OM1P and my node configured on someone else's dash.

Right now have a 2610 and 1650 setup on CPA...
Both lose heartbeat and reboot
I am connected wireless to the 1650 and lose my connectivity about every 20 minutes to 45 minutes which is confirmed with I look at the session log for the device.

Use the Open_Mesh dashboard but the wificpa portal. This issue is not present on any of the other systems I've tried or run on.

Anybody wants to run an experiment at the hardware level etc let me know... these two units can be spared for a short while.

I'm not familiar with wifi-rush, but I'm trying to help someone since I've had someone contact me about possible issue with another captive portal option "world spot". Sounds like maybe the same issue. What's strange is while ssh into the node nothing is rebooting like others mention. Everyone is saying 2671 does not exhibit this behavior. Looking at the patches there is very few that have messed with Coova, one about the time zone and maybe one other.

Almost forgot, downloading a 600MB file stopped halfway with a disconnect. The router did not reboot nor did the captive portal restart.

WiFiRUSH has taken over the WiFi-CPA product support and the server products are 100% WiFi-CPA version 4.7.3 from a functionality perspective.

Thanks to Antonio for his attention to this matter!

A lot of changes have been geared toward nodogsplash since and slightly before 2671. At this point it might make sense to have one captive portal software included that can do both free/paid setup. With the new coova mini portal this looks to be possible, but little to no documention exists on how to set it up or even run it. Just looks like once one captive portal is all built up the other ends up breaking. I'm just curious and looking for even a clue as to what is causing this new issue. Running the same exact setup for testing as everyone else and i'm not seeing the node reboot, just seeing a quick disconnect on large file downloads that cause them to break.

Ok, got bored and started doing random things.

First I undid this patch,

Didn't seem to fix the issue after a reboot.

Next I found that the /etc/config/chilli and also /etc/chilli/config had this strange line, something like ?dhcp something something, thought the ? was strange so I removed it in both places and restarted coovachilli. Last but not least, I did chmod -x /sbin/wifiheartbeat or whatever it was, probably not a good thing. Now I've been sitting here downloading a ubuntu dvd at a speed of about 212KB/Sec. I figure it's been going for some time. I'll continue checking, but the node in question is setup on sedatkaan's dash.

Node has been up exactly 57 minutes and a 689MB download completed without hiccup over the course of that uptime. I'm also connected via ssh to the node and unlike early before my changes I have not been disconnected from the node. Prior to the above random changes I could not complete even half of the download and ever couple minutes my ssh connection to the node would drop. Hope this helps to zero in on what's wrong.

edit: Looks like the ?dhcp thing is suppose to be there. After looking again the change I made was back after a reboot, so doesn't look like that was the problem. Really the only difference then is the patch I unrolled and killing the embedded heartbeat.

Guess I was way off after looking at the new patch. Just curious though, maybe I should have brought this up prior. I had noticed another wierd dnsmasq error that I talked about in another post. Maybe this will fix it also. Has anyone ever seen it where dnsmasq freaks out and keeps trying to issue out an ip to a certain computer? When this happens I lose internet, but I can connect to the private ap and get internet. I can also connect another computer to even the public and it's fine.

Off to test the new patch and see how it works out. Thanks!
