is it possible to grab the files that you use to flash a wap and post them on a private server or hosted site (i would prefer the hosted site as in: in my mind i would picture a place where you could upload files (kinda like lets say image shack) and then in the .sh custom upgrade script put the hosted sites file path for your file firmware and enable custom sh. etc

the reason im asking is that if i do ever find a version that is stable i want to be able to deploy it without manually re flashing all of my waps. and it seems that on this site the custom .sh scripts change all the time or is that just my imagination?

so...
is it possible to upload the fw onto a site for the purposes of an upgrade, and if so does anyone know a site like that and/or can someone create a custom .sh script that upgrades to r3527 (the latest revision that seems to work for me) and stays there

any pointers would be awesome thx.

if you get an SVN client you should be able to download the folder that the firmware is in and put it in your own folder. you can put it up on a webserver or on a local drive. then just change the "upgrade" variable in /ETC/config/general in the radio to point to that location.

you will have to change the upgrade.sh that you download to point to your new location, of course.

woah that is way above my knowledge.

i downloaded and installed a svn client but it wants to set up svn binaries to be installed (whatever that is) to create a repository (reposowhat) and i have no idea what that is.

is there a simple free svn software for windows out there?

it just looks like windows explorer or winscp imo.

is there another/easier way?

if i do get it right can i just point all the waps to a file on my computer as long as my computer is on and connected to the internet?

I use smartSVN 6.6 in windows. the repository is a fancy way of saying "folder" lol. it is just where you want the SVN client to download stuff.

smartSVN has a really nice little wizard that walks you through it. when it ask you what you want to do. tell it you want to "check out"

that will check out everything, you can sort through it later.

as far as an easier way, not that I know of Razz

well your computer would have to be on the web and running apache if you want it to update that way. you would also have to make sure that your router is setup to serve it. (means opening a port ) dont forget to open a hole in your firewall too Razz

its not very hard, but take a few steps.

damn i dont have access to a linux machine.

i did what you said and i have all the files on the svn but i guess i cant really do what i wanted (create a custom sh script for r3527 that i could point all my access points to so they can update without me having to manually flash them.)

any other ideas on how to accomplish this?

You could try downloading and installing VMWare Player on your Windows PC and installing Ubuntu 10 Desktop in it. VMWare Player is a virtual machine allows you to run other OS'es on you computer.

It's free to use. I have a Vista machine and that's what I am doing for the SVN and firmware editing/compiling. That would get you the access to a Linux PC that you need.

. Its much quicker and easier than using SVN, you just use your web browser.

that is very clever, but it does not have the bullet 2HP firmware.

also one question, does that down just the firmware or does it download the entire file structure as well?
