Hi all,

Hope this is the right place to post this.

On an Open-Mesh network with OM1P's; SSID#1 using open-mesh; SSID#2 private; no extras, no custom .ssh, etc.

Since installation last week, on one of my gateway nodes a user on SSID#2, when accessing Constant Contact (http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp) gets the wonderful Windows Vista message:

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Prior to installation of the OM1P last week there wasn't a problem accessing Constant Contact; if connected directly to the network via ethernet cable the problem disappears also so it seems to be something with either the OM1P or the computer in question connecting.

Thanks!

Lou

What happens when you use SSID#1?

What happens when you look at other web sites through SSID#2?

You mention "Church", are you sure that the Church is not blocking it somehow? It is quite common to have a connection reset to "block" a page, it makes it look like the site is down and trick you into not visiting it.

Answering the last reply first, yes we're a church and since I'm one of two in our "tech" department I can say we're not blocking anything but some default sites/categories through OpenDNS - adult themes, weapons, that's about it. If I try my computer elsewhere or one other staff computer away from this node I can use Constant Contact without problem.

Then transitioning to the first reply I'll have to delay for a day after this since I'm out of town working so can't go and try things out myself. But will try to have the staff person try things out for me over the phone.

Haven't tried SSID #1 so will try that. I did ask in a late email yesterday to try other sites, especially https like her personal bank or something along those lines. The problem seems at this point to just affect https but will verify myself. Will try other sites though on SSID #2 both http & https.

Thanks much!

Lou

Oh my bad, forgot to post back. Solved this. Unbeknown to me, someone had plugged in an ethernet cable to their computer. Computer was evidently trying to use both the wireless card and ethernet card in said computer, evidently confused Constant Contact. Removed the ethernet cable and now there is much joy.

Solved but slow,

Lou
