I would like to get some advice on how to deploy a public wlan (open-mesh) for a
non-profit athletic club. The outdoor area that needs to be
covered is 3 football (soccer) fields, and the distance from where I
would like to place the outdoor node to the outermost limit is 143
meters or 469 feet. The indoor area consist of offices, cafeteria and
an indoor sport centre. The lenght of the building is 70 meters or 229 feet.

will show you the outdoor and indoor area that needs
to be covered. I have placed some labels indicating where I think
that it would be best to position the wlan nodes. The club has one
SHDSL Internet line (also marked on the map).

I would like to get feedback on the following:
-Will there be enough AP's to cover both the indoor and outdoor area?
-Can I use the OM1P unit for both indoor and outdoor? I'm thinking of fitting a 7 dbi antenna for the outdoor AP's to extend the range.

Appreciate any help regarding this. I will be holding a presentation for the board of directors on thursday 14th so any feedback is good!

om1p are pretty weak compared to other robin-mesh compatible hardware and they are not outdoor rated. I know you can get outdoor covers for them, but when you can buy a ubiquiti pico2 or step up to the pico2hp for almost the same total price and get higher signal strength, you might as well do that.

I don't think your outdoor coverage will work out with om1p's. esepcially the one to cover the playing fields.

just some initial thoughts....
