Trying to find a direct supplier of the OM1P rather than purchasing through Open Mesh or an authorised resller (as Im only going to wipe them) is very hard!

Does anyone know who makes the OM1P so i can see about importing? I assume its still an Accton, but information is very hard to find.

A company called EdgeCorp is making the latest batch of OM1P's. However, there are a couple of things to note here:

* The MR3201A was a generic product anyone (well not really, you would need a bit of money) could purchase directly from the manufacture.
* The OM1P is a Custom-OEM product made exclusively for Open-Mesh.com, you won't find anyone else buying them directly from the manufacture, you just can't (like you can't ask Foxconn to make you an iPhone, Apple can as its their product).

Thanks Cody. I was hoping to purchase around £5000 worth which is usually possible - i didnt realise it was an OEM build for OM. Shame, as I won't be using the devices if the only supplier is a 3rd party with the added mark up.

I was quite simply trying to say that they will not be able to sell him the OM1P.

Edge-Core was once a group company of Accton and is now a recently (May 2010) spun-off subsidiary. So, to say one or the other is making it may be semantics. It could have been a small CM all along.

Edge-Core may or may not be able to sell you the OM1P, but they were willing to sell me the WA2121

device in high volumes. I think 2,000 pieces was minimum order. That device is already at end of life. I never asked about the OM1P as I needed 2 ethernet ports.

I always ask the questions and hear "No" directly myself....You never know. And you never know what the terms of the exclusive agreement with OM might have been. It may have expired or it may be forever.

OR the OM1P may be headed to extinction already. I can't imagine the volumes are keeping a production line busy.

I doubt OM designed it, unlike the Apple example, so unless OM paid a large NRE, or worked out other terms, the design could belong to EdgeCore/Accton.

It never hurts to ask the questions and stay informed.

I do think it will be difficult to go direct to the mfg for less than a few thousand pieces.
