Hi, I began experimenting with NG early in it's development, about a year ago. It's been rapidly improving, with recent builds seeming to me to offer at worst similar and in many ways superior features, performance and stability to ROBIN.

I guess it's only "downside" is it's lack of support for anything other than Open-mesh hardware for 802.11N support. No Ubitquiti support, to my knowledge.

I've used it with MR3201a, OM1P, OM2P and MR500. I love the seamless roaming from node-to-node, and the bridging-to-lan on SSID2 and the ethernet port, thanks to Batman-adv rather than OLSR. Seems everyone on this board have asked for that for years.

I love it's integration with Cloudtrax vouchers - how a user does not have to re-enter their voucher code every time to roam from one AP to another.

Last but certainly not least, I think they've Open-Mesh has significantly beefed up their tech support in the last year. They now have a ticket-based email support system that is actively staffed with attentive and helpful guys.

I don't work for Open-mesh - just sharing my opinions. Love to hear from others who are experienced with recent builds.

I would say it was good but the devices I brought some months ago still do not function and there is no ETA on getting this fixed.

I've only been running 347 for a couple days, but i'm finding it works really well. The mac/ios problems seem to be fixed. i had a problem with cloudtrax vouchers simply not working, but David told me to manually flash to 347 rather than rely on the OTA update. seems there's a slight difference in the two flashing methods - enough to break vouchers. don't know if it breaks anything else or not.

i'm using some OM2P's and an MR3201a.

I'm planning on replacing several OM1P's with some OM2P's in a production network on monday. To me, the best kept secret of the OM2P is that is still meshes with old devices like the OM1P and MR3201a.

The network uses preprinted vouchers, so that's really the most significant thing i've been testing. taking a chance, but hoping for the best.

What problems are you still having?

I am also interested in the NG software, what I miss is a forum where newbies like myself can go for help. Is there such a forum for cloudtrax?

//A

No, for obvious reasons...

I understand that these units will not work in the same mesh network, am I right about this?

Correct - completely different mesh protocols are used. Robin is OLSR and NG is Batman.

I am impressed with the NG fireware but I am a little annoyed that my Pico2HP's are now obsolete. OM used to support other devices but I cannot get the NG firmware to work on the Picos. I did however get it to work fine on my Engenius 2611p.

So If I could get it to work on the Picos it would be 100% correct.

I see that within recent days there's a new testing version out of ng -- r397.

I upgraded the networks I converted over and the upgrade went smoothly - there was nothing new that I was looking for but it didn't cause disruption so I was happy.
