it says..

Actiontec GT701-WG DSL Modem has a dumb DNS issue. When you try to connect to a website from a computer running Linux, you may see "Trying 1.0.0.0" in the status bar and a failure to resolve the hostname.

Cause:
The router, which runs busybox Linux, has a DNS server program called
dproxy that has a bug that exhibits itself when you try to resolve hosts from a Linux machine with IPv6 turned on.
Unfortunately, you cannot disable the dproxy program and the router always sends its own IP address as the nameserver to a client that obtains an IP address via DHCP.

This could explain lockups in other networks that maybe use something like this router.

Any feedback?

Antonio, when you added the ability to specify our own DNS server, I thought you specified that the Robin nodes would ONLY use the DNS server we specified, not the specified DNS server plus the one given by DHCP.

If so, then it would be easy to work around this problem by entering a DNS server on DashBoard, no?

Yes, this is true... but the very FIRST time that a gateway checkins it needs DHCP provided DNS to reach dashboard and than get it's own DNS.

Yes, i see what you mean. Perhaps (and i'm sure you have thought of these already):

-hard code OPENDNS's dns servers into ROBIN as the default DNS servers, unless the administrator specifies differently on DashBoard. it's understandable that this may require a manual reflash of nodes for this change to make it to nodes that are behind such a router.

-disable ip6 on the nodes, if possible, easy, and not likely to cause a problem.

As you can't control what is used as the upstream router/dns, eliminating it as a potential cause for problems may be helpful to you in solving the root of this problem.
