Have a client who decided to attempt a VPN to his office. IPSEC to Cisco and reported back last night that he is able to maintain his connection without issue.

Not a complaint.. just reporting that this is working for him.
Mesh is operating on r2688 on Engenious 2610's. Will investigate further, but initial reports are showing some success in establishing and maintaining VPN connections, at least for this customer.

The only change I made to my network on his initial inquiry, where I advised that this would likely NOT work was to set my routers to IPSEC Pass through the other day just in case...

Seems to have worked.. Go figure.

Customer is connected directly to a repeater node through to 1 gateway.

Does that count as success Smile

Try putting the client on the internet

client - internet - XDSL router - ROBIN gateway - ROBIN repeater - VPN server

The client is on the internet!
Customer PC - > Customer Router -> Robin repeater -> Robin Gateway ->My Nat Router - >Internet - > VPN Server

Successful enough that he stopped complaining how it didn't work!..

Im not an expert in this field but from my understanding your network direction is easier that the diagram I made?

I assume your VPN server has a fixed Public IP address therefore port forwing is not necessary at the end?

Its not my VPN server.. It belongs to the city administration offices to which some of my clients connect to from their homes. But safe to say its all fixed IP's
