The OM1P uses the IP 192.168.0.1 temporarily during a reboot. I know this because that is the gateway IP for my network. It lasts only a few seconds, but this is very disruptive when every OM1P reboots after a power outage or brown out. Can this be changed? Short of changing our gateway IP and reconfiguring our entire network to accommodate for this, I don't know what to do. This temporary IP is for firmware flashing? I find it curious it would use a known and common gateway IP.

firmware-ng: fw-ng-r277
Model: OM1P

I suspect its the "Redboot" boot loader. You can change the redboot IP address.

google redboot

Careful now, changing settings in redboot can be dangerous. I would suggest (if possible), to change the gateways ip.

Maybe if you were running open-source ROBIN you may not have the same problems?

Maybe we need a support section for the closed-source NG firmware?

Maybe we should give a warning to users who ask for NG support in a forum that is clearly labelled ROBIN.

Ha, ha. I guess there is no support forum for the closed source NG, since I can't imagine anyone is using it. Nice. I'm sure you can pay for support.

I think that a redboot issue is universal, so in the spirit of kindness....bloodniece: change your gateway. There are so many devices that use 192.168.0.1 that it simply makes no sense to use that subnet.

And changing the redboot IP is time consuming, depending on your network size.

Ideally, you should just change the gateway ip.

I don't know if ng permits/enables the use of the tty ports, if yes then you need a serial cable to connect the board and your pc and a software to handle the connection (putty is the best choice if you run windows). Power on the router and abort the bootstrap (you have few seconds!): now you have redboot under your eyes and you may edit its configuration according your needs.

(do not blame us if something goes wrong... you have to know what are you doing).

Well, yes I imagine changing the gw ip is the best solution. Of course that means changing the configs for several nodes. I am aware there is no support for the NG closed-source firmware. Would you recommend installing the ROBIN NG firmware?

ROBIN and NG are completely separate. One or the other (NG is not so good in my opinion).

It looks like the ROBIN is better suited to my needs. Thanks for brainshare.
