I have done allot of testing with R3713.

Without Portal on I get 22MB with a gateway.
Without Portal on I get 10MB with a Repeater.

When I turn on the Portal with the Correct settings from HotSpotSystem
I get 5.5MB with Gateway.
I get 2.3MB with Repeater.

Why does the Portal lower the speed so much. How can I fix this. Can I have Robin-Dash upload a custom.sh file or anything to fix this problem. I am about to go live at 4 locations and I have really Poor speeds.

I am going to Backhaul most of the Pico2HP and ECB-3500. But this problem is on all devices. I have changed out and tested with 3 types of devices and it does the same thing on each one of them. So it has to be a settings.

All repeaters are 1 HOP from Gateway.
No other users on network at all.
Speed updates in dashboard show around 10MB down & 8MB up.

Look Forward to an answer.

Coova won't really go faster than 5.5mb due to hardware limitations of the 180mhz processor so those speeds look about right to me. I'll test tomorrow though on a 1 hop repeater for you to tell you my speeds in the same situation.

Question is will that be 5.5MB per client that is connected?

Are u forreal so all my clients have to share 5.5MB per device. Wow that sucks

Why is it with 2963 I get 18MB down everytime. What is difference with 3713?

Lots of things factor into the performance of a device, especially when running loads of scripts, routing protocols, and captive portals.

I actually find it hard to believe that on the 11g stuff your getting 22mbps since madwifi typically pegs out lower then that due to cpu/irq usage. I'm pretty sure that even plain stock openwrt resulted in roughly 12mbps on the mini I had awhile back.

At any rate it's more then likely not a problem with coova as I get over 40mbps on the hardware (11n) I'm using at the Gateway with a single stream realtek (not very good) 11n card and windows7.
