Apparently D-Link DIR-300 revision B will not work with ROBIN firmware

Hi all (new Smile )

nothing to do for me I have reflashed using the old dd-wrt files. fon flash finds the router after around 4-5 (after lights re-flashed for the 2nd time) and it stops there.

I have tried heaps of times.. nothing.

I am using xp.

I was thinking.. Is it possible to do a manual installation on redboot? Can you give me the commands (I already tried using the openwrt guide (the difference between the two fis free sectors was 300000 so I used fis create -l 0x003300000 rootfs and a second time 0x300000 but sthe router couldn t boot..)

I was trying to reflash my ar430W today, no success.

I am able to flash the DD-WRT with no problem. When starting the ROBIN flash, the Fon Flash (special version) gives me the error message:

No packet
Non arp packet received, make sure, the device is connected directly

Any suggestions?

Enable fon fash then Plug the power to your router after a couple of seconds

Mqke sure your router is series "A"

Make sure you have a direct connection from PC to router

In not sure if the new redboot from dd-wrt is still suitable?

The redboot downloaded from the ROBIN forum works.

I also came into the problem like this, and my router version is DIR-300 A1.
Before I began to do Fon_flash, connect to the bootloader with telnet on port 9000 and ip 192.168.1.1, then unplug the power of router, and the PC showed the information: telnet session is closed. Then I start Fon_flash operation.

Anybody know the reason please..

I tried the method that quarbe mention:

and I use Manual Flash

after doing the operation
DD-WRT> load -r -b %{FREEMEMLO} openwrt-atheros-vmlinux.lzma

it shows the message:
Using default protocol (TFTP)
TETP time out 1/15
Can't load 'openwrt-atheros-vmlinux.lzma' : operation timed out

but I can telnet 192.168.1.1 9000 successfully and enter DD-WRT>.

who knows the reason..

For anyone struggling to get openwrt onto a dir300 with original firmware, here's a simple script which works well and provides the files you need.

(Google "selwynrh dir300" to find it if the link is not working).

The script puts the ap61 bootloader on the device and also gives you the option to load a Luci gui, but a gui isn't necessary if you are just going to run ./open-mesh-flash 1 openwrt-atheros-root.squashfs openwrt-atheros-vmlinux.lzma to get Robin (or another openwrt variant) installed.

It doesn't work if ddwrt has been put on the dir300 previously. The solution to getting openwrt installed in this case seems to be to solder in a serial port and use the console (I've done this but I'm happy to be corrected if theres another way).

Cheers,

Bob
