EasyHotspot is an alternative solution for hotspot billing system. Its contains other particular open source software that is bundled into one a single package. We don't try to make a replacement to similar existing open source projects. Our aim is to deliver a system that simple, easy to install, use and modify. EasyHotspot comes with ready to use configuration. You need less configuration to build a running hotspot. It will save you time and energy.

EasyHotspot is developed on the top of Ubuntu distribution. The hotspot manager frontend used to manage your hotspot is built from Codeigniter framework. Codeigniter is an blazing fast PHP framework which easy to understand and its very handy to make a web bassed application. We hope everyone can easily understand and make an improvement to the code. FreeRADIUS will help us to perform AAA process. The Captive Portal that is used for authenticating users is Chillispot, and the database / MySQL, it used for storing the users and logs information.

Who's gonna need it ? Anyone who wants to build a hotspot or someone who willing to learn how hotspot works. . For example : Cafe, Hotel, School, Public place, and anywhere that requires wireless internet connection.

How to get involved ? Ok, this is our favorite part ... its easy to get involved and help this project. You can report the bugs, make an improvement/variation, request new features, critics, fill up our wish list, spread the word. Everything positive are welcome Smile

The first tip is... how could we integrate in our open-mesh networks?

sound very interesting

I did make quick read of your web, is there any way how to install your solution on existing ubuntu / debian server?

I think that first test is to use "Manual RADIUS & Legacy options" captive portal on open-mesh dashboard

You can download this and install it on a existing linux system, basically just needs freeradius, chillispot and the usual apache, php and mysql..

If I understand it correctly this still uses the obsolete chillispot instead of coova-chilli? Why?

What does it really matter if you are running it all on the nodes themselves, unless you are wanting to use the pc as a gateway controller.

The network problems when a open-mesh network is used with a local gateway server can be solved by allowing access to some internet addresses without authentication.
Inside the open-mesh nodes there is a file called 'inet-test.sh' that check the internet connection.
Inside this file you will see that the check is made by pinging addresses: 198.41.0.4;192.33.4.12;128.8.10.90;192.5.5.241;192.36.148.17;192.58.128.30;193.0.14.129;198.32.64.12;202.12.27.33
and pinging domains:
checkin.open-mesh.com,

Well... Inside the chilli.conf file or by using the portal you should enter one or more of previous address and also the address 66.206.86.154 that is 'checkin.open-mesh.com' address (this is the only one problem of this method because if this address will change you will have to update too)
Don't forget also (inside the chilli.conf file) to uncomment the row UAMANYDNS.
By making this changes you will able to use the open-mesh dashboard and your own captive portal.
