I have failed at setting up Authpuppy several times now. Problem seems to be the particular Apache configuration with aliases to symfony (an embedded web component that authpuppy depends on).
On my LAN setup, my Apache uses named VirtualHosts, which might be a problem. I did get so far as getting the authpuppy config page to run, but then it failed some of the install requirements.
My preference would be to host this on my web hosting service, however the Authpuppy install requires changes to apache conf. I posted a request on the authpuppy forum to make the install simpler, but their forum is a jumble of requests and discussions (not organized like this forum).
I've abandoned the task for now... at least until another rainy day.
One thing I can say from testing out the demo Authpuppy server (on their site) - it's not at all what I expected. Compared to a commercial Hotspot/Billing system (WFR, WFG,HSE, etc) the Authpuppy interface looks completely foreign.
