I have a Deliberant CPE2-15 (15dB directional antenna with 500mW radio) on the top floor of a 13 storey building. It's mounted to the ceiling aiming straight down.
It is a gateway is is installed this way in an attempt to service nodes several floor below it as their 1-hop gateway.
It works, and nodes 3-4 floors below it claim to be using it as their gateway. But it claims that it can only hear nodes 0 and 1 floor away. It does not show distant nodes on it's list of neighbors.
I understand that it is not ideal to mix radios with such differences in output power and antenna gain in the same network. I understand that this can lead to one-way links between nodes. But the problem i'm describing is a problem with how Dashboard is displaying the link. It's not possible that the link is really one-way, because repeaters that the gateway claims it can't hear are successfully using it as a gateway.
It the least, i'm describing a bug in the way Dashboard lists neighbors. At worst, i'm describing a problem with ROBIN observing routing decisions of OLSR.
Anyone else seeing what i'm describing on your networks?
